Capacity Building

Focus for this cluster is on strengthening the capacity of stakeholder groups to engage effectively in building and sustaining peace at community and national level.

Activities in this cluster include

  1. Human and Institutional Audit: Is set to establish the nature and level of expertise resident within the CCSF membership and to identify existing capacity gaps. It informs the nature and content of the training of trainers’ refresher course targeting CCSF member organizations with operations at the community level.
  2. Support Systems and Victims Mapping Exercise: Seeks to identify hot sports with a higher probability of experiencing both pre and post outbursts of politically motivated violence. This will assist the management committee and CCSF membership in determining priority geographical areas for this action, identify relevant actors to target for lobbying and advocacy work, and form part of the input needed in the construction of a violence early warning system.
  3. Community Capacity Building Workshops:These support and strengthen various Church and Civil Society formations already engaged in community capacity building workshop prioritization being given to the hotspots identified during the violence mapping exercise. The trainings target community leaders such as chiefs, headmen, political party activists, pastors and counsellors.
  4. Capacity Building Workshops for Policy Makers:The project recognises that peace building is a long term process demanding the involvement of a multiplicity of stakeholders. Accordingly capacity building of policy makers at the provincial and national levels is critical in order to promote sustainable peace and community cohesion.
